The Technika III Type 5 amounts to a reinforced IV body with III movements. It was a transitional model between the Tech III and Tech IV, produced for about a year until replaced by the IV. It left the factory with a Graflok back, which could be added to older Techs. The rangefinder assembly on this particular camera was removed, since it adds weight and Linhof does not make new Tech III cams for modern lenses.
Earlier Tech III's have a flat front door.
Tech III cams are matched to that particular camera and lens, with the serial # of both engraved on opposite sides of the cam. While using a cam not intended for the lens might be useful for approximate focusing, it is not likely to be entirely accurate.
