Royal Canadian Air Force Military Hulcher High Speed

10 FPS 70mm Camera

8 FPS on your Nikon F5 too slow? NO problem, switch to 70mm Roll Film!

This is among the rarest of Military Cameras, the Hulcher 70, Model 103 developed especially for the Canadian Royal Air Force for aerial reconnaissance.

Format 2 1/4 x 2 1/4 on 70 mm Military film.   Shutter speeds 1/25 to 1/2000th.  Choice of 5 of 10 frames per second 100' roll of film.  The camera, loaded, weighs about 11 lbs.   It operates on a 24-28 DC power supply.

Camera comes complete in custom case, with separate DC power supply, power cord, 80/2.8 Schneider lens, focusing cone for 210 lens, and Hulcher instruction manual.    Camera shows wear,  E+, but is in nice condition considering it's military background.   Battery long dead, needs to be re-built.    Camera appears to be complete and in original condition so far as I can tell.    I am not sure of the original cost, but most Hulcher 103 cameras new were in the $4000 to $5000 range.

The camera has two handles to securely hold the camera while leaning out your jet bomber's bomb bay.   The release is the red trigger built into the right handle.  The Shutter speed dial is the silver dial below the camera lens mount.    The finder is identical in principle to the old Voigtlander Kontur finder.    Both eyes are open, but the finder only shows the framelines, not the image.   This method allows the largest amount of peripheral vision.

The lens is mounted for infinity, of course, since it is an aerial camera.   The barrel nose bayonets on.   The longer nose   cone is for a 210 lens.

Combination battery and battery charger.  The instruction manual clearly labels this as being made for the Canadian Air Force.
